SPOT TREATMENT:
The high gum content of wild silk, along with the high knot countof Fort Street Studio wild silk carpets, ensures that most spills bead on top of the dense pile before being absorbed into the silk fibers. This allows time to wipe up the spill. As a general rule for all carpets, blot the spill with clean absorbent towels. Do not rub or scrub. Blot as much of the liquid as possuble and let the area air dry. Do not apply heat. Once dry, lightly brush the pile with a soft bristle brush.
If a stain remains, use a damp rag and repeat the process of blotting, drying and brushing. Room temperature club soda or seltzer may also aid in removing the stain.
OVERALL CARPET CLEANING:
Fort Street Studio wild silk rugs may be cleaned entirely by a professional cleaner of fine hand-knotted oriental carpets. The cleaner has the option of washing the entire carpet with cold water and mild soap of neutral PH. The cleaner may also perform a dry cleaning.
